Please try the -ati/-radeon packages for Jaunty in
https://launchpad.net/~tormodvolden/+archive/ppa to see if the latest

It looks like two different symptoms, which _might_ be two different
bugs:
1. My bug, which seems to be Bug #310864: Flickering on DVI-connected displays,
which sometimes gets worse at higher CPU load. With flickering, I mean the
DVI screen actually going blank for guessed 100-300ms. I
Yes, you are right. But flickering (CPU related) appears even on a X1300
Mobility.
In git you can find several bugfixes due to the flickering/blanking
problem (http://cgit.freedesktop.org/xorg/driver/xf86-video-ati/log).
But I don't know which fix handle your problem. Give it a try.

X1200:
As Jens Janssen posted, installing the updated version of xserver-xorg-
video-radeon (that's under xserver-xorg-video-ati) found on
https://launchpad.net/~tormodvolden/+archive/ppa solved my problem.
Thank you Jens!
Package I've downloaded is this:
I am having the same problem on my notebook (Gateway W350a) with a ATI graphic
card (ATI Technologies Inc RS690M [Radeon X1200 Series]).
I have tried with the drivers ati, radeon, radeonhd and fglrx, none of
which worked properly (if worked at all).
I have a fresh Ubuntu 9.04 installation.

Could you help me how to make my system functional?
Thanks a lot

probably because you still have the fglrx driver configured (which no

I already deactivated compiz. It got a little better, but not much.
I uninstalled fglrx following the instructions

I used Intrepid with Radeon driver on Toshiba A210 (ATI RS690M [Radeon X1200
Series]) and from time to time had a flickering (with fglrx there was the same
problem). Now on Jaunty it was ok (but the card worked slowly)
Using ATI Mobility x1200 on Jaunty AMD64 and have the exact same
results. This happens whether compiz is on or completely disabled.
