This sounds like a duplicate to bug #301353. Have you updated to the
latest BIOS from HP (May release)? This fixes the problem.

HP Pavilion dv5: ATA
I have an HP pavilion dv5-1199el bought 4 days ago and i installed
jaunty. I tried two times the suspend mode and the pc went on sleep
correcly but on resumingthe first time I saw the same screen that
has seen Marcin903, ctrl-alt-F1...F2...had no responses...the errors
messages were cyclic,
I had the same problem at first with my HP Pavilion DV5-1124CA , using
Intrepid, but now, I can successfully suspend and resume. Here's what I
did (3 steps):
1. I'm now using kernel 2.26.7.11-generic kernel, as provided in the
default repositories (and following recommended upgrade on

bug, since I realised that it is related to Ubuntu 9.04

Is this reproducible say over 10 cycles. Has suspend ever worked in the
past, if so which kernel release (cat /proc/version_signature)? Please
include any information as to the circumstances leading up to this
failure, for example did your battery run out? Did the machine lock up,
did any
