Timo - thanks for the links. I'm sorry about the tone in my last update
post - I saw that the status for Dapper was still unconfirmed so I
wanted to make sure it was properly labeled.
I'll see what I can do on both the backport and SRU fronts.

So have these updates been incorperated into Dapper backports?
I am anxious to get these fixes, but reluctant because I don't want to
break my system. I do get a conflict error when I try to install the
package listed above...

Dave - Is there any possibility that these fixes could also be posted as
unofficial packages if they are not applied officially? The above

They're welcome in the official dapper-backports repository, which provides
aggressive package updates

No, it disables the hardware accelerated repeat case for render (you
can't do this config options) it leaves the more-used blend case
alone, I'm sure we might get this fixed for Xorg 7.2 if we get the
chance, but the safest thing for dapper is just to fallback to software

I don't think that the XAANoOffscreenPixmaps option should be used as a
fix - it would be really nice if the Ubuntu devs would do what they can
to fix the problem in the driver itself. The problem still exists in
the Edgy Knot 1 livecd, and such a common series of cards shouldn't need
tweaks such
