Hrm, the apport-collect command didn't seem to attach what I expected it
to. Care to instead test the latest Karmic release since it contains a
newer 2.6.31 based kernel and let us know your results. Assuming the

Well the in-kernel driver _is_ the rt2x00 driver.
But I assume you mean the deprecated legacy drivers instead,
those drivers have been removed from the rt2x00 project.
Hi Fernando,
I'm a new joiner and I would ask some help on your HowTo procedure. I've tried

Are you sure you're using legacy drivers in gutsy? AFAIK all the rt
chipsets are nowadays supported by the rt2x00 project drivers instead,
without eg. Network Manager wouldn't work.
The real problem as I see it is that the current 2.0.4 version from July
should be upgraded to the latest 2.0.8 to
Sorry, forgot to add the link. The newest rt2x00 drivers for rt2400, rt2500,
rt61, rt73 and rt2570, 2.0.8, are here:

Currently gutsy has 2.0.4.

Timo,
Good to know, and what is the best way to implement the newest 2.0.8 since
it is not installed? Is there a patch available?

I agree, this problem needs to be fixed immediately or asap, I wonder if the

This is a real pain. It sorts itself out if you change the config in

THe same problem seems to occur with the new rt2x00 drivers (or at least

I have the same issue with a Linksys WMP54G connecting to a WPA access
point using rt61 driver on Ubuntu Feisty.
Installing the latest serialmonkey version of rt61 appears to eliminate
the lock-up issue (i.e. it looks like they have this problem fixed).
However (and this could well be a
