Hm that can be right, but a new user of me-tv doesn't know this.
A simple information in the scan wizard, that the package dvb-apps is required
to run a scan by location would help newbies and make it even easier for people
that are new with ubuntu.

Are you suggesting that upstream make an Ubuntu specific message? What
package you install depends on what OS you are using. Sure, I could
mention that you need to install initial tuning files but the new Me TV
0.8.0 doesn't work like this. It's a little more obvious in the new
version.

It's not required to run the application. It's recommended.
Many people already have their own initial tuning file or scan file
because dvb-apps can get out-of-date really quick.
