I was able to fix the issue: name away all . folders (.config .gnome
etc.) to something else. Log out and log back in. The high CPU usage
problem was gone. I moved back a few dot folders I needed, and things
are fine. My desktop is different of course, and I lost some settings,
but the main
I have the same issue. One core is usually pegged but top / htop / ps
do not show any process using more than a few percent of CPU. This is
when I log in under my main account, the one with sudo privileges. When
I create a new account with the Desktop User profile and log in as

Hi All,
There is new update in the issue. When i log in using a different
username which is not sudo, the CPU is normal. But i see black spots on
the screen which flicker ( even for the sudo user).

This it's the top, i've the same problem, I want to add that iw3965
module uses 50% or 100% cpu when it's active.
I discover this problem when switched from wireless to wired to avoid
that problem.

I have the same problem with the System Manager showing very high CPU
usage but top not reflecting this usage. The system is noticeably slow
responding but there is no indication what is causing the slow down. It
seems most apparent when Firefox is open.

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears
to be a regular (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security
issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to
cross privilege
Could you please run top to see what process is consuming CPU cycles?
