i entered the 2 lines in the terminal, copied and pasted, first time i
use command so not sure if i omited any moves, but nothing has changed
on ekiga or cheese, the camera is not detected.

Also please wait to capture the dmesg output after you've attempted to
use the webcam just in case anything interesting gets logged. Thanks.

sorry,actually its a logitech quickcam 2500, the v11.8 i mentioned
earlier is from the install disc.

this is definitely not a firefox bug. not sure where to file this
against; without knowing anything i would guess its a driver issue.
