Public bug reported: Binary package hint: firefox
hello, I installed adobe flash player 10 (automatic) to use google street. Restarted : google street worked OK (this morning) New start (this afternoon) / google / look for" how to underline text in gedit" (search in french) / got answers on "commentcamarche" / click on link / got on the left a small grey pop-up window, about 1/8th of the screen, with rounded corners. Then total freeze : even the start button of the computer did nothing. I had to unplug the computer (no switch on/off). And now I report to you. I am very new on Ubuntu,for less than 1 month, coming from XP malware infected : 10 minutes to start, 10 minutes to shut down. At the begining impressed by the immediate start of Ubuntu. Now few seconds as I installed new programs (for webcam... and so on to work quite the same as with XP). Include part : 0) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/300122 (from https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage) : exactly the same bug 1) Description: Ubuntu 8.10 Release: 8.10 (got from 'lsb_release -rd' nothing found with "System -> About Ubuntu") 2) checking in Synaptic for "adobe flash player" I find "flashplugin-nonfree" and ""flashplugin-nonfree-extrasound" both non checked so not installed. I have to say that I installed adobe flashplayer from the windows in google street saying I need it to use Google street. On adobe site I selected flashplayer for Ubuntu 8.10 . The installation went OK. And then see above the description of the bug.
