Can you confirm whether this is still an issue in natty?

The issue solved by replacing the motherboard battery.
The battery was empty and every-time the computer was disconnected from
the power, the BIOS settings erased and the nvidia driver started to
make problems.
I have to mention that I updated the time settings in the BIOS before
booting Ubuntu

After installing the nvidia driver and rebooting, a black screen

Btw, never compress your logs, it makes it harder for the triager to
open them. Attaching them as foo.txt helps launchpad to detect the

you could try a newer ubuntu release.. it's a proprietary driver which
we can't fix, but maybe a newer distro helps.
