I installed Lucid on an IBM T42 last night and noticed a persistent high

I had this issue, but was able to access gnome. Now after changing some
settings on my router these messages are gone.
I changed the following UPnP (Universal Plug and Play) settings on the router
(a NetGear WNDR3300) :

generic package as you suggested in the bug report you linked to, and it
does not fix the noise floor calibration timeout errors for me.
From this I think we can assume that either this is not a duplicate of

Bug occurs occasionally on startup in R16 kernel on ubuntu 9.10. Gnome
starts correctly, wireless still discovers networks.

my computer is working normally. It is fully updated, Karmic Alpha 6 and
beyond.
I have these ath5k phy0: noise floor calibration failed and ath5k
phy0: unsupported jumbo messages in my dmesg output. The first one, I
have it 608 times (dmesg buffer rolled over itself by now).
