Grub takes along time to load the list and the kernel
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/462241
I have reloaded Grub2 twice and still have a 15 to 25 second Grub
Loading. message before the menu. I have tried the default and also a
splash screen which both take the same time. Grub2 takes longer than
Ubuntu to load. This system has two hard disks and three operating
systems.
Is there a way
The_wingle Did you install GRUB2 on top of legacy grub?? if yes, please

Hmmm... that sounds like put it back the old way rather than the new
way is fixed.
I too am experiencing a long wait as grub loads initially which is a
shame since it undoes all the great work the team has invested in faster
boot times.

I have done a ubuntu 9.10 clean install on 30th october. it takes much
time to load the grub (grub 1.97 beta 4) menu. Can you tell what type of

install the old good one?

installed in /dev/sda1 and ubuntu in /dev/sdb1. Before loading grub
menu, the hard disk is under full work for about half a minute or more.
(A machine like sound can also be heard). Such a thing I have not
encountered from
Anish_D here is the full details of my scenario:
I have two hard drives, /dev/sda (has Windows and Hardy) and /dev/sdb (empty),
I did a fresh install of a daily build of Karmic (27th of Oct.). During setup I
have been prompted to install GRUB and I hit OK, apparently it has installed
GRUB2 on
I tried Karmic daily build AlternateCD 27th of Oct. and those two issues
has been fixed, it loaded faster like legacy grub and it detected all my
installtion
May be those issues happened because I installed it on top of legacy
grub of hardy (without uninstalling legacy grub first)
