Public bug reported: Binary package hint: openoffice.org
On my Atom laptop, OO Impress becomes impossibly slow when Japanese fonts are used in a slide. Removing the Japanese glyphs and replacing them with roman characters causes the program to return to normal speed. The slowdown is in the selection of the slide for editing, with a lag time of >15 seconds on an Atom netbook. Something is definitely haywire here, it will be a great help to Asia if it can be fixed. Details on the installed proggo is below. The Ubuntu version is 9.04, freshly upgraded. (I uninstalled and reinstalled OO once, to see whether that might clear the problem.)
