the latest version of GpsDrive you should be working on trying to get
packaged is 2.11. Don't even bother with the older versions, so much has
been fixed since

Sorry guys, I spent a while on this, but I am in a bit over my head. The
whole build system for gpsdrive has changed (uses cmake now) and so the
packaging needs to be done from scratch.
I have managed to do all the patching work, I went through each one and
found out whether it is still needed,

It would be best to have the debian maintainer make this change. Would
you please file an upstream (debian) bug for this.
