Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: awesome

I recently upgraded from 8.04 to 9.10

I had a manually installed awesome 3.1-rc5 installed previously and it
worked well.

after dist upgrade, I removed /usr/local/bin/awesome, awesome-client and
awsetbg, also removed /usr/local/share/awesome

I removed my .xinitrc

on login, I choose "awesome" as the session type, but it fails to login
and I go back to the gdm login screen.

xsession-errors shows a segfault.

if I login using a plain xterm session and manually start awesome, it
either segfaults immediately or runs until I start an xterm from within
awesome, at which point it segfaults.

my hardware is unchanged since running ubuntu 8.04 w/ awesome 3.1-rc5

I have 4 monitors on 2 dual head nvidia video cards. I have tried re-
enabling xinerama but it makes no difference if that is enabled or not.
I am running 2.6.28-17-generic #58-Ubuntu SMP Tue Dec 1 21:27:25 UTC
2009 x86_64 GNU/Linux

I want to rebuild awesome from the source package, using this command:

  DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS="nostrip noopt" fakeroot apt-get -b source awesome

however that fails due to unmet dependencies:

--   package 'xcb-event>=0.3.6' not found
--   package 'xcb-keysyms>=0.3.4' not found
--   package 'xcb-icccm>=0.3.3' not found

perhaps the ubuntu package maintainer had installed something else on
his machine to get this to build?
