Hello there, I have the same Gstreamer problem. it appears irregularly.
Right now, when I add jpeg pictures.
Here's the error:

nothing happens.
Am I doing something wrong?

Well,
I formatted all pictures to HD (as set in preferences), but it does the same.
I started a new project, added 4 pictures, no problem. Changed opacity curves,
no problem.
Import and insert a 5th. picture, and there it is:

packages from the PPA and Ubuntu 9.10.
