I still have a related problem. I have nautilus set to displaying the size of the file at default zoom level. While it correctly updates filesizes as a file grows, it does not update file counts in directories. Should I file a new bug? -- need to refresh the view to get a new directory listed

I should add that I'm on 9.04 and the update only fails if the operation causing the number of items in a given folder to change occurs outside of nautilus (e.g. in a terminal, downloading in firefox etc..) -- need to refresh the view to get a new directory listed

Actually it does not seem to be a duplicate. The reason for this seems to be somewhere else than nautilus. gnomevfs-monitor does not report the changes I make. Maybe gamin is not started or the necessary kernel modules not loaded on boot? -- need to refresh the view to get a new directory listed
