I can confirm this on a Dell Mini 9 (Inspiron 910) and a Dell Latitude
E6510 (Certified up until 11.04).
This issue only started with 11.10 (Oneiric). I find this happens when I
boot with power plugged in and I disconnect the power once in a session.

I would say just by looking at this bug that a number of its duplicates
(including the one I reported) aren't actually duplicates. The issue I
reported was specific to 11.10 and was not present in the LTS.
Is it possible that someone has over-generalized this issue to include
new issues as well?
I do feel as though that is the case. The bug came into play during the
testing phases of 11.10, and is still prevalent in the current version.

it is a timer issue on plugging in the A/C power and sleep. I use my
netbook many times a day like this, and occasionally forget to plug it
in until after the screen has shut off. If i plug in the netbook after

Yeah I tried that in console mode (I also had the upower_0.9.5-4_i386.deb) but
my NIC did not seem to be up, so It could not connect to the repository.
Thanks for your suggestion I did not know that --force option.

@tlindvall propose your patch directly to the upstream freedesktop
upower team, so they can test it on many brand/architectures, and both
new and old kernels, as this problem is related to a new
meaning/parameter the recent kernel report about the batteries.

Hello, I know this may not be the case but I accidentally tried to uninstall
the upower package that I had running in my machine using the software
center (it told me that some packages were going to be uninstalled too) and
I hit yes, but after I did that my ubuntu can no longer boot (it stays
gdm, gdm-guest-session, gnome-power-manager, gnome-session, indicator-session,
ubuntu-desktop,
depends on upower, so removing upower, gnome will be removed.
To replace and try a so critical package, recompile it, sudo make install, then
reboot!
To replace the old one, ask to reinstall the
