OK that was not the issue, in fact swap is no longer recognized by manually performing swapon -a. sudo swapon -a swapon: cannot find the device for UUID=09cfceef-0c4c-4d86-9528-38700c50d419 I understand there is a cryptswap1 entry in /etc/fstab just trying to provide as much information and

With cold boot: Swap was not started on the laptop (i386) at boot. Swap was started on the desktop (amd64) at boot. /etc/fstab on the laptop (i386) was reverted back to installation default configuration. /etc/fstab on the desktop (amd64) was modified, swap line was uncommented as per previous
