Confirmed (again) this workaround does the trick. I omitted the chown
step, as that seems like it good cause trouble, doesn't seem to have
been necessary on my machine, but then I haven't rebooted.
Maybe one of the devs could chip in and comment on whether the chown is
a good idea or not.

Same issues here. Barry's workaround doesn't work for me. It changes the
write limit to 0 as soon as the client starts.

I have been having this problem too. Several times under beta1 and beta2
of Lucid. (which I love.)
I followed Barry's directions in #9 and it worked!
The only thing I would add for persons trying Barrys fix (comment #9) is
to manually change directories into the .config/ubuntuone to chown the
Barry, would you please provide script or patch with your workaround?

got here via the automatic bug report. Barry's solution at comment #9
worked for me. Can't really turn this into a script, and besides, the
root-cause of this needs to be discovered (mine was a case of upgrading
from Karmic to Lucid.) Here are the steps I used in detail:
1.) confirm throttle

ValueError: Read/write limit must be greater than 0 in ubuntuone-preferences
with disabled throttling
I continue to have this problem. I did not check throttling, so it is
trying to set this perimenter without user interface. When using command
suggested, I get the error of no suh directory exist. In home directory,
there is a Ubuntuone folder, but no config file to delete. There is no
user
It is getting very frustrating to not to be able to configure ubuntuone,
so it will work. I ampaying money for this and cannot use it

ValueError: Read/write limit must be greater than 0 in ubuntuone-preferences
with disabled throttling
I was finally able to solve this problem. Here is what I did:
1. Stop the sync daemon with /usr/bin/u1sdtool -d followed by
/usr/bin/u1sdtool -q
2. Verify all ubuntuone related processes were killed via ps -A | grep
ubuntuone and then kill -15 those PID's (I had some zombies)
3. Manually edited

There are a couple of issues here. If we can't set 0 as a value in
syncdaemon here, it shouldn't ever return 0 as the value when we call
the get methods. No API should ever return a value that it can't accept.
It should specify a behavior that returns a valid value instead of the
invalid one, or
