I saw this as moved from Incomplete to New and missed that it was marked
Incomplete again and hence the watchdog has closed it. What more data
was needed that caused it to be marked incomplete?

I am using Lucid anyway and keeping up to date on a daily basis. I have
been using the N900 in modem mode to get mobile Internet quite
successfully. I had not had reason to use the device in mass media
mode. Apologies for not keeping up the flow of feedback.

recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try with the

If it can help, the N900 doesn't have partition, the SD card is
formatted directly (like mkfs.vfat /dev/sda) ...

Sadly :-) it now works fine for me. Plug N900 in, press Mass Media
on the N900 and a few moments later the main memory of the N900 mounts
and appears:
/dev/sde on /media/Nokia N900 type vfat
(rw,nosuid,nodev,uhelper=udisks,uid=1000,gid=1000,shortname=mixed,dmask=0077,utf8=1,flush)

I can't mount the primary n900 data store as a normal user (or
automatically, as expected,) but the auxiliary MicroSD card does mount
automatically. If I force the mount with: sudo mount /dev/sdx /mnt/bob
the n900 does mount, but that's not normal use case.
In the example below, /dev/sdc doesn't
