I took the liberty of renaming the bug as it seems not to be an installation issue, but rather a crash at restart around the time X launches, specifically when using dual cards with a 2.6.32+ kernel. I can confirm (after a few hours) the 2.6.31-21 kernel works fine, including CUDA 3.0 computing.
