How big an impact this problem has related to how the Ubuntu user base is and

I will not touch the severity of the bug, but I agree with Chris that
the problem is in OO. In the track he reported above in comment #23, it
is quite clear that OO told the session manager the user cancelled the
shutdown, so I think that the session manager should not re-ask the
question.
Romano, I would advise against using that workaround as you're
essentially bypassing the gnome-session and forcing a shutdown. The
safer way to shutdown is to first disable QS, then do as usual.
The more I read about this the more I think QS should be completely

This is not just a quickstarter problem. This is a fundamental design issue of
the behaviour in Gnome.
1. The user requests a shutdown
2. The user is asked by Gnome - Are you sure about that?
3. User explicitly confirms that he is indeed
4. Nothing happens.
The importance is low -
Valthare is right, this should be escalated. Basic functionality such as
logging off/shutting down is just too important to be put aside.

This only affects the quickstarter (which isn't enabled by default and

It's also marked low on the OOo project. I'm running an old machine,
