I had possibly a similar problem, except that I got more information about the
installation failure each time I used
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
and then zoneminder attempted to complete its installation: Then I saw
the error was no database zm. I checked apache and mysql
I have tried to load Zoneminder in 10.4 2.6.32.24 and it has failed
several times. I have also tried some of the ideas offered from Google
search all to no avail.

Thanks for the log but it seems that it doesn't come from the machine which
experienced the failure (the failure occurred on an i386 arch and the latter
comes from an amd64) . Without that information we cannot help you with this
issue. Are you able to provide the requested log file ?
