It's been 4 months since I submitted this show-stopper bug, with very
little advice, help, guidance, or hints other than the reinstall.
I removed Ubuntu and installed Fedora 13, which is working.
I abandoned Ubuntu for lack of useful response from bug reporting (which, you
can see, is detailed),

This finger pointing isn't getting my system working. It's been a month
since I attempted to upgrade to 10.04, and I still haven't received any
useful help or any indication that anyone is looking into this problem.
