If the symptom when hitting the Touchpad on/off switch is an empty
notification popping up in the top right corner then yes, I am also
affected. I even think that it used to work in 11.04.

I had a similar problem on natty on my asus UL50-Ag. however on my
machine the disabling itself did not work, so i wrote a wrapper script
to do it for me, adding the notification, too

supposed to (also disabling/enabling the touchpad works completely fine)
I didn't even know there is such notification until i installed ubuntu
on my GF laptop (its some Acer travelmate) where this notification works
