Edgy Knot 2 Live CD

(it is the same in Dapper too)

On the desktop, when a user starts a program in the menus (the ones on
the top of the screen) the mouse pointer shape changes into that round
spinning shape, which is IMO wrong, since it suggests, that the computer
is busy and the user should wait. But that is not true. The user can
proceed with work, like using already opened windows, or even the
mentioned menu. It is just weird, because he can not point exactly,
since the cursor is not pointer shaped, but round, and it is unclear
where its hotspot is.

I tested this in the Live CD environment, but it is the same in the
installed system too.
