Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: chromium-browser

After starting chromium for the first time I told it to be the default
browser. Opening links from other applications correctly opens them in
chromium, but it tells me it isn't the default browser.

Manually setting chromium as the default browser in "system -> preferences ->
preferred applications" solves this.
If I tell chromium to set itself as the default browser, the default browser in
"preferred applications" is set to custom, command "/usr/lib/chromium-browser
%s".
