Public bug reported: 2.6.32-24-generic-pae kernel update reintroduced the popping noise when muting and unmuting and adjusting volume levels to the top or bottom level of volume using the function keys. This sound was corrected a long time ago and is not present in 2.6.32-23-generic-pae.
