I have the same bug on a fresh Ubuntu 10.10 install (2.6.35-22-generic
kernel) on a Lenovo Thinkpad T61p. When pressing the mute (either to
mute/unmute) button there is a loud popping noise. This happens only
when resumed after suspending. If I reboot, there is no such popping

I installed an update to 2.6.32-24-generic-pae this morning and the
audio popping is once again gone.

I spoke too soon. Upon rebooting, I plugged my headphones in and hit the
mute button to unmute and there was a very very loud pop. It's not fixed.
I'm currently using 23 to avoid this until fixed.
