Title:
Thinkpad T60 doesn't suspend
Unfortunately this bug report is being closed because we received no
response to the last inquiry for information. However, the Intrepid
Ibex 8.10 Beta release was most recently announced -

confirm this is still an issue with this
The Ubuntu Kernel Team is planning to move to the 2.6.27 kernel for the
upcoming Intrepid Ibex 8.10 release. As a result, the kernel team would
appreciate it if you could please test this newer 2.6.27 Ubuntu kernel.
There are one of two ways you should be able to test:

The 18 month support period for Edgy Eft 6.10 has reached it's end of
life. As a result, we are closing the linux-source-2.6.17 Edgy Eft

Hardy Heron 8.04 was recently released. It would be helpful if you
could test the new release and verify if this is still an issue -
I thought I'd mention I'm using feisty, and I don't have an ATI video
adapter in my Thinkpad T60. I'm using the intel i810 driver, and I also
sometimes get the continuously blinking moon. Attempting the cpufreq
fix right now.

Thinkpad T60 doesn't suspend after upgrade to edgy
Albert,
I upgraded to feisty a few weeks ago, so I can't confirm edgy still
suspends with my setup. However, I learned that 'fglrx' is the culprit
in most cases. Since about four months, all new fglrx versions break
suspend-to-ram and there is no workaround as far as I know.

Benjamin,
This related bug has a suggestion: to make the cpu governor be in
performance mode when going to sleep, with a little script.

So far I got 5 out of 5 consecutive successful sleep cycles, which is a
miracle. I hope

Benjamin,
Can you confirm if your setup still works with edgy dis-upgraded up to
date?
How can one disable the built-on powermanager?
Thanks for any help!

I found a workaround to get my T60 to suspend. There are two steps:
first, install powersaved and kpowersave and use it instead of the built-in
powermanager.
second, install the attached deb for uswsusp. The uswsusp in the repositories
(version 0.2) doesn't work. I built the package with the
I have the exact same problem as piquadrat. I have a T60 with a ATI
x1400 and I have the fglrx drivers installed as well.

My specific problem of the laptop not suspending at all seems to be
caused by an incompatible configuration of the hibernate script. I
replaced my own version of /etc/hibernate/common.conf with edgy's
version and now suspend works at least sometimes ... On other times I
experience similar symptoms
I have the same problem, although not exactly the same symptoms. The
'Moon' LED blinks, xorg shuts down and the background lamp goes off. But
then it doesn't suspend completly, the fan is still running and there is
periodical hard disk activity (very short, about every 5 seconds). When
