Well, apologies for the screw-up - we've been moving to a new process
for doing kernel stable updates
(https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/StableReleaseCadence) and this was a
teething problem for that process.
** Changed in: linux-backports-modules-2.6.32 (Ubuntu Lucid)
Status: Triaged = Fix
linux-backports-modules-compat-wireless-2.6.34-2.6.32-28-generic
appeared when I updated yesterday, so no packages are held back anymore.
I've had no problem with wireless network today. I appreciate it, thank
you.

Bugs,
I appreciate it to tactus, but the fact that this error even occurred is
unacceptable, OK if one is testing a pre release, because that is the
point of testing, but to happen to a LTS release, is the reason that
Ubuntu will never ever compete with vastly more reliable commercial
OS's, and that is
I fixed it by accepting proposed package. As proposed here :
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-meta/+bug/681727
linux-backports-modules-wireless-lucid-generic installed fine and my
wifi problems are gone.

- Hello Ubuntu -
where are the package candidates for
linux-backports-modules-wireless-lucid-generic,
linux-backports-modules-alsa-lucid-preempt, and
linux-backports-modules-wireless-lucid-preempt ??
I have the same, stated above problem, with all of these, related to the
2.6.32.27.29
linux-meta is correct in that that's the dependency we want for 10.04.2,
but linux-backports-modules-2.6.32 doesn't seem to have been uploaded
for the 2.6.32-28 ABI. Marking invalid for Natty but RC for the 10.04.2
point release.

It appears that this was built, but not copied out with the kernel.
Investigating.

Yes, if I boot from previous 2.6.32-27-generic I have wireless, if I
boot from 2.6.32-28-generic I do not.

The hell...
If I didn't have my grub edited to allow me a choice between kernels I'd
have been screwed by this bug. I wonder how many newbies got bit by
this and just gave up?
