@C10uD Your approach didn't work, and I'm using emesene2.
The function total_fail in the patch doesn't even exist in my code (freshly
updated natty).
I'll try to fix this bug.

there's a new fix from Andrea Stagi, i think it has been pulled in in
latest papyon git master. you should try it

it's a bug in python-papyon. already reported upstream with patch, but
noone would listen.
by the way this particular error triggers when you have a broken profile
(and yes, emesene1 breaks profiles, so you shouldn't use it anymore).
In order to fix your profile just login with emesene2,
upstream bug with probably working patch (yes, almost a year in there
without a review): https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=31431
