Public bug reported: Brand New Alienware M17xR3 with Intel i915 IGP, and NVIDIA GT 460M video.
New, Clean installation of Kubuntu 11.04. When booting up, and BEFORE Xorg starts, the video mode switches and the video on the screen flickers and switches rapidly between colors as it flickers. No text or graphics are visible on the screen after that, just the flickering. Disabling modeset for intel (kernel command line parameter i915.modeset=0) stops the flickering and I get to a desktop. When doing this, screen resolution is wrong and vgaswitcheroo is disabled, but at least the computer is functional.
