is that still an issue if you upgrade? there was a similar known issue

I can't upgrade. When I try the OS fails at login. I get a message
asking if I want to do a partial upgrade for various reasons. It reaches
the login window. When I click enter or select user name with the
cursor, the login screen disappears leaving me on what looks like the
desktop background

that problem is fixed by a new version of gtk.
