John, a directory or folder in computer terms refers to something very specific: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Folder_%28computing%29 The events tree in the sidebar is NOT a directory, and there are no preferences for the events. What's in the prefs is correct. -- You received this bug

As I stated in comment #2, the directory structure preference is for importing photos. So if you are importing a photo from January 1st, 2011, perhaps you want it to go in: 2011/January/1/ or 2011-01-01 or 2011/01/01 Different users prefer different directory structures -- that's all there is
