It is possible to replicate the problem with a new document as follows:
Open a new spreadsheet
Enter some text in first cell (this is just so that we can later see that we
have opened the spreadsheet ok)
Save the file, say testit.ods and close the file.
From a terminal in appropriate directory

be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers of

Confirmed because I can replicate the problem. However, I am unable to mark
Triaged as this looks like document corruption (which would most likely be
marked Invalid and not supported upstream) or prior OOo/LO
Thank you for reorganising the bug report to be more logical.
The failing document was originally (years ago) created using MS Excell. It
was then maintained using OpenOffice and then LibreOffice. I am not aware of
any reason that it should have become corrupted. The actual document I have
Colin Law, the fact it went from Excel to OOo then to LO introduces a
litany of possible root cause vectors (ex. original problem was Excel
import was not fully implemented regarding the original content, OOo
content save, LO imported the OOo document and borked it, some
combination of the prior,
