than a .desktop is needed in order to integrate into the menu when
there just needs to be an icon
well that's sort of what we distro patch in Ubuntu currently, click on
software-properties in Oneiric for example or language selector...
Is there a mailing list or some channel like that

properly integrated. There are bugs for letting the display capplet call
the nvidia tool and adding common unity options to the user interface

settings has fixed components (icons) , but why , why change the
previous system that autoupdated , whith one that needs additional work
on implementing a new configuration menu ?

Than you for your answers . I did some more searching (as to where to
address my vision of why it is so wrong to have things that way) , and

This dialog is the system settings, it's not supposed to be random
applications you install, so the need to add external components is
limited
Note that our version of the control center allows external components
to add icons (the backup icon for example is built from a different
source) so it's
