This ceased again as suddenly as it started (not sure if it was fixed
without my being aware of it, or some update changed the timing or
what). You might want to put this bug into sixty day timeout mode.

I had a similar but not identical hang (I will assume for now it is
related) just now on resume. The screensaver didn't kick in, the mouse
pointer moved, initially it also changed shape as I would expect. I was
able to switch to a VT, and restart GDM, which prompted me to log back
into my (still

This doesn't happen every time. Next time it does I will see if Alt-
SysRq-K helps and also try booting into an older kernel to see if that
makes a difference.
