Device to unmount is not in /media/.hal-mtab so it is not mounted by
HAL

Can you please try this again, enter the following after inserting the
CD and copypaste the output here:
ls -l /dev/cdrom
mount
gnome-eject -vbd /dev/cdrom
Please also attach /etc/fstab.

This Bug seems to me to be pretty similar to #99538.
However, I've only just now run into the problem described there - I
pretty definitely was NOT having any problems of this nature when #94582
was filed here on March 22nd.
