I am sure I speak for everyone here when I say THANKS! However, the spirit of the bug remains. the pcitutils database quickly falls out of date and there is no approved way of updating it. Running update-pciids works perfectly, and voids /var/lib/dpkg/info/pciutils.md5sums . Is there hope

Gutsy tribe 5 still ships with an old pci.ids, with snapshot from 2006-10-27. Debian unstable still has version pciutils version 2.2.4-1, Gutsy has 2.2.4-1ubuntu1. Wouldn't it be possible to just make a version 2.2.4-1ubuntu2 with an updated pci.ids file? Marked bug 131268 as duplicate, as
