Ubuntu One support told me that there have been some delays implementing
a new architecture (migrating the backend from couchdb to their
replacement u1db I assume)... and that currently contact sync is
disabled in 12.04 but it will return once the issues have been
addressed.
I'm a little worried
Since 12.04 cant't synchonize Contacts between Ubuntuone and
Thunderbird. At least i lost all of my contact files!!! Im really pissed
off. And in 12.04 UbuntuOne Preferences there is no function to activate
Synchronizing contact ... so what the hell is going wrong? in AskUbuntu
there is also no
Me too, installed thunderbird-couchdb, after that found an option
'ubuntu one' in thunderbirds 'directory server' option, could also
select that, but the option every time bounces back to 'Addressbook'
and no ubuntu one contacts can be seen.

It also affects me. i have no chance to synchronize contacts from
thunderbird to ubuntu one. and now all contact email adresses are gone.
im really pissed off.
