fine, but the latest version (ubuntu5) produces the behavior described

Seems to have started with this patch - 203_fix_coasting_speed.patch.
It happens quite often and is fixed by logging off / on. This is quite
a usability bug as a touchpad is my only means of navigation on my
laptop as I do not use an external mouse.
