I also have this experience.
As a business user, making extensive use of skype for international
business, I must say that Ubuntu has now proven incapable of handling my
demands. version 6.10 was fine and the microphone worked with skype.
After updating to 7.04 this is no longer the case.

Intel-based Macs use the EFI/GPT partition scheme rather than the older

Modifying the engine also worked for me. I also tried to play with the
setting progressbarstyle when the engine was ubuntulooks, but it had
no effect. Two more things: the engine switching is a much better
solution for me than reducing color depth because rdesktop kept crashing
at 16 bit color

I have not tried since then as all the updates have been for a Windows

have posted in several bugs and I have no idea what you have tried. In that bug

Hm, I installed -15 versio of lowlatency kernel and Nvidia drivers work
again (and modules load).
Could it be that my installation just has some conflicting files with
-generic kernel, though I have uninstalled nvidia-glx with --purge?
Still, with -generic both vanilla and ubuntu's nvidia kernel
Maybe you (the submitter) already knows this, but you can control what
volume (PCM, Master, etc) the keyboard buttons change by selecting the
required one under Default Mixer Tracks in Sound Preferences (System
- Preferences - Sound). If your bug goes beyond this, then excuse this
message :)
