For me, on Debian unstable, the volume hotkeys do not change the volume
as seen in the gnome volume preference panel. The volume hotkeys change
linein, if linein is enabled in the volume preference. If linein is not

7.04 and 7.10 installations (where system sounds work) and my

Please tell me if I'm in the wrong place. I have a Dell Inspiron 8120
and I recently loaded Gutsy. I installed Skype and intended to use the
mic plug with my corded headset, but it doesn't work. I've searched
everywhere and tried many lines of code to no avail. Can I get my mic
plug to work on

It appears, from the gnome bug report, that perhaps this bug only
effects users who are using the Exchange backend. I'm unable to
reproduce this bug with a non-Exchange IMAP account.

vol_id takes way too long to finish on unavailable
With skype you will indeed get the libXss.so.1 error (see their bugtracker:

Revision 0.50-1ubuntu1 is a merge that adds a .desktop file. However,
the .desktop file there doesn't follow the current FreeDesktop.org
standards. Neither does that revision modify the Maintainer field to
match the DebianMaintainerField policy.
