i just upgraded the Hoary and the behaviour as changed slightly. Now
the LVDS displays a partial screen. The resolution is set to 1280x768,
while the LVDS only supports 1024x768. Any attempt to change this
fails.

Additionally, I have noticed that on rare occasions for short periods of
time the device will be correctly initialized during a cold boot into

Sorry for the late response I apparently didn't get Launchpad
notification.
First, you need to install the flac package :
sudo apt-get install flac
(or use Synaptic)
Second, the script doesn't work for me anymore, and I don't know why it
worked once but doesn't anymore, except maybe that some
meminfo file is empty, and is not able to attatch. But here is the fstab
file. I first did not find the fstab file, but after I started in
recovery mode, and restored some packages, it appear. The swap partion
has now start to work.

video module is loaded I can echo some values to
/proc/acpi/video/VGA/LCD/brightness, and change the brightness of my screen.

Hi,
It works in Epiphany (gtk but also gecko ?) and OpenOffice.org. I don't
understand what could have changed in cifrado and evince since hardy
release to provoke this bug.

Thanks for testing and reporting back. This issue is fixed in Intrepid
so marking as such. It is unlikely that the fix could be backported to
Hardy since it is most likely in the huge Xv commit but you could try to
nail it down if you like.

Hi,
applying the patch didn't help me (applied patch by hand, than restarted hal),
but downgrading hal-info package to version 20080317+git20080318-1ubuntu4 and
restarting hal solved the problem.
Even previously and currently I have the white screen effect about 50% of the
cases. Let me know
