My /sys/devices/system/clocksource/clocksource0/current_clocksource is now
hpet and the error seems to be gone.
I tried tsc as well but everything went SloMo from there (litterally: All the
GNOME menus faded in at half the usual speed and after a minute or so the
computer would hang
I've got a similar problem. Used to work in Intrepid.
I get the problem using nm-applet (Gnome, not KDE) so it might not be an
applet bug.
The device still works with wvdial, so the kernel driver is working.

I disabled the firewall with Gufw 0.20.7. then,
- go to stand by/ suspend
- wake up: load fine, system is not thrashing
Enabled the firewall again and after another stand by cycle the system
is behaving fine.

I think after all this time this bug transforms into a feature :-) . It
confirms my experience that programmers don't use OpenOffice (otherwise
they would fix this immediately or over the weekend). Let's hope for the

Can confirm this too, 64 bit as well as 32 bit. Just upgraded to jaunty,
so it is the official release.
/home/user/.local/share/tracker/tracker-indexer.log is completely filled
up with the following lines (85904 lines in total):

Still a problem in Ubuntu Jaunty with all filesystems converted to EXT4.
Copying 6-7 GB from one place on a partition to another place on the
same partition (i.e. duplicating the data on the same harddrive) results
