connections. This applies to version 0.52-1 of the package. However,
Ubuntu 9.10 ships 0.52-2, so the lack of IPv6 support probably exists

I think i have a workaround. This is how i did it:
Since there was no xorg.conf in /etc/X11/, i guess Xorg makes the condig
up at runtime, i had to ,,make'' one first. For this i needed Xorg to
shut down. So i opened a console by pressing ctrl+alt+f1, logged in and

Edit or create a xorg.conf file under /etc/X11. (Note: in karmic a
xorg.conf file is not required as ubuntu now automatically detects and

As it seems this is an alsa driver bug.
I have disabled power management in /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf
#options snd-hda-intel power_save=10 power_save_controller=N
and the audio corruption is to 99% gone.

Both applications got installed.
No issues with the installed applications.
But the window never even showed thunderbird installation as 'in progress'.
My net is really slow. So it can't be simply a matter of a very quick
install that I missed

i was trying to install gdm as i was unable to see screen resolution
option under systemadministrator. i use it from package manager. and it
gave me the error saying that it is not getting installed.
I'm not very good with Ubuntu so pardon me for my language.
