[Bug 427539] Re: [FFe] Sync libmaven packages from Debian unstable
I expect that I am being stupid, but please be patient! I installed karmic and am in the process of trying to migrate all my development to it... I noticed maven was broken a month ago, but didn't have time to investigate and kept using my old hardy LTS system when necessary. I've now reached the point where maven2 was the ONLY thing left before I can switch over completely and get rid of the hardy system. I wasn't surprised to find maven was still broken, because I expected it to be a problem with my own configuration. After careful problem determination and fixing what was wrong, maven still wouldn't run at all. I googled and was amazed to hit this bug - karmic was released in November and January is almost gone! Now the stupid bit I think this bug report is telling me there is a fixed version, but synaptic is telling me I have the latest version 2.2.1-1 already installed and there are no alternatives available. Please explain to me: do I need to add another repository, and if yes, what is the APT line that identifies it? I am happy to try using an unstable release of maven, because the current version is worthless... however, I don't want to risk trashing my existing karmic java development environment that has taken a month to get working properly! -- [FFe] Sync libmaven packages from Debian unstable https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/427539 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to libgoogle-collections-java in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we can't fix it because your description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read How to report bugs effectively http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem. We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures. At a minimum, we need: 1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem, 2. the behavior you expected, and 3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible). Thanks! When reporting bugs in the future please use apport, either via the appropriate application's Help - Report a Problem menu or using 'ubuntu-bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs. ** Changed in: ntp (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Low ** Changed in: ntp (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- NTP Service crashed in Lucid Alpha 2 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/508043 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to ntp in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

Yes, the DNS server in my DSL modem does not support IPv6 (A requests ?). I am wondering why 'host' does a IPv6 (AA) lookup after receiving a valid response on IPv4 (AAA request). [Bug 503180] Re: eucalyptus-cloud doesn't reply to requests
Thank Thierry, We've finally been able to (we believe) reproduce this type of condition on our Lucid machines, and have figured out the reason why it is being triggered on lucid UEC installations. The Eucalyptus front-end components (cloud, walrus, sc) require that, on startup, the network interface that was used to register components is up and configured (i.e. has an IP address that was used at component registration time). Our init process ensures this by running after the 'network' init script completes, but in the upstart case it looks like the eucalyptus components can start after the network process has started, but before it completes. In sum, if eucalyptus starts, then the interface becomes configured, this condition will be triggered and the front-end will need to be restarted so that it can go through the initialization process again. Note that this is a startup time requirement only (i.e., once the system is up, and for some reason the interface goes down and comes up again), the service will stay active; it is just during the startup that eucalyptus requires that the interface is alive and configured. Is there a way to have the eucalyptus upstart scripts wait until the network interface is fully alive before starting the front-end components? Thanks! -- eucalyptus-cloud doesn't reply to requests https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/503180 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to eucalyptus in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

The key, here, is that seabios is an actively maintained upstream project. Upstream QEMU has pruned the source code from its tree that generates bios.bin (required for QEMU kvm's to run). I'm confused about how to do this, debian policy states that A special exception is made for packages which declare that they break their own package name or a virtual package which they provide (see below): this does not count as a real breakage.. http://www.debian.org/doc/debian- policy/ch-relationships.html I've tried adding a Breaks: rabbitmq-server ( 1.5.4-0) and don't see any warning or complaint when trying to install with dpkg when 1.5.4 is currently installed. The best theory that I have about this bug is that it's related to some sort of failure in the NSS lookups for the current user, resulting in the ticket cache permissions not being changed, but I can't entirely reconcile this with the debugging messages you're seeing. We workarounded the issue in ec2-init by supporting both formats. The issue still stands in eucalyptus, but it's no longer blocking for us (so set to importance Low). Re: [Bug 499483] Re: /etc/default/grub cannot disable use of UUID
Am Montag, den 18.01.2010, 02:43 + schrieb Leppie: GRUB can't know how the later booted kernel and udev names the /dev/ files for your disks. It can only use UUIDs LABEL and a file on the filesystem which the search command already supports. then why does the search still use the --fs-uuid option even though GRUB_DISABLE_LINUX_UUID is set to true and uncommented? Because it has LINUX in there and is not named just GRUB_DISABLE_UUID. It's only for the linux root=UUID kernel parameter. Not for GRUB itself for what search and set commands are. should the set root=(hdX,Y) command not take care of the location for grub to look for its files? Hardcoded GRUB devices aren't reliable. You have to change /boot/grub/device.map to match your BIOS boot order. And as soon as you change your BIOS boot order or sometimes it's even enough to just add another disk to your PC and you need to fix device.map again. in some cases the search seems to be looking for different UUID's than those passed by the command (set in grub.cfg). It uses (Well it should, else it's a bug) the UUID of the filesystem which contains the file the command after search uses. So if your /boot is a seperate partition search command uses the UUID of /boot so GRUB can find the Linux kernel and then in the linux command it uses for root=UUID= the UUID of your / filesystem. -- Felix Zielcke Proud Debian Maintainer and GNU GRUB developer -- /etc/default/grub cannot disable use of UUID https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/499483 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 508843] Re: ubuntu shouldn't package beta version of digikam; needs upgrading to fix 200 bugs, and in particular import crashes #8 most reported KDE bug ever.
Stephen, I am sorry that you feel this way. As I said, solution is to install digikam from karmic-backports repository. You can install just digikam (and kipi-plugins), if you are concerned about unsupported status of backports (to prevent other backported packages to install). For digikam itself, I can only assure you that the karmic backport version (1.0.0) will have same (or even better) attention than supported version. For supported version in karmic, we could only get single fix for the crash (a bit hard to hunt actual patches as there were several changes for this crash issue), but this will not make our users happier, as they would probably then get other beta5 issue, that need attention. It is not useful use of our limited resources to do that (and yes, this is mostly done by community resources). -- ubuntu shouldn't package beta version of digikam; needs upgrading to fix 200 bugs, and in particular import crashes #8 most reported KDE bug ever. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/508843 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Sometimes the same error is shown like after safely remove it. -- secure remove of external USB-HDD produces error https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/466575 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 156824] Re: [915GM] closing lid breaks X (jumping cursor, sluggish, high cpu usage ... )
Hi, I am running a HP NC6220 also with the i915 driver on Ubuntu Karmic 9.10. For me there are similar problems as the ones above. After opening the lid again (or only touching the screen off sensor which happens a lot with this laptop model) the screen flickers insanely and the mouse moves around. X seems to take a high CPU load as some windows hang on redrawing. I checked the upstream bug and saw a hint to the /proc/acpi/video/.../DOS setting (although I have no idea what it is) When I do a echo 6 /proc/acpi/video/YOUR DEVICE HERE/DOS the problems dissappers instantly. and I can also close and open my lid as I want. I checked and before the lid close it was on 0. Does anyone know if there is a trouble when leaving this on 6, or setting it on 6 after boot automatically? /schaze -- [915GM] closing lid breaks X (jumping cursor, sluggish, high cpu usage ... ) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/156824 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
