It seems as I found a permanent fix. In case anyone having the same
issue, this approach fixed it for me:
1. Unpair the mouse in Windows, i.e. delete it inside the Bluetooth settings.
This will delete the respective keys in the Windows registry, too.
2. Unpair the mouse in Ubuntu, i.e. revoke
The workaround from #71 worked almost perfectly out of the box, I've
only seen 1-2 windows staying under the dock. I probably simply need
bump the delay a bit from the default value.

was able to test the Jammy QEMU from my PPA using a 12-core machine and
it seems like we won't need to backport any patches there either.

The iso from today, Ubuntu-MATE 24.04 LTS "Noble Numbat" - Daily amd64
(20240226) has just installed perfectly in KVM with no problem booting
to a full GUI.

Following this problem, the computer can still be used. However, after
the lock screen goes into effect due to inactivity, the following
