Re: [Bug 85751] Re: Distorted MP3 sound

2007-08-05 Thread Fabio Ornellas
I am running Ubuntu 7.04 x86 and it DO have the bug. May be it is dependent
on the MP3 in question. I already posted a working safe (akaik) solution, it
is up to the maintainer to apply it.

On 8/4/07, Alan [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote:

I'd just like to help out finding the bug: i think this is cpu-

Up to one week ago, I was using ubuntu feisty (server install) on an old
 IBM netfinity 5100 ( Pentium III 900 MHz ) with 512MB SD-RAM. I had NO
PROBLEM at all with mencoder and mp3 audio.

Some days ago I just installed a new Athlon 64 PC to replace it. I went
for 32 bit Ubuntu Feisty, installed from scratch, updated, and got those
nasty sounds when encoding (using the very same scripts and codecs)
which i didn't happen to experience on the P3.

This could be a runtime optimization issue rather than a real bug,
hence hard to spot. A good trial might be to recompile the package with
less optimization, leading to a slower but working package.

Re: [Bug 85751] Re: Distorted MP3 sound

2007-08-05 Thread Fabio Ornellas
Warning: this this is a little off-topic!

I also found that -vc ffsvq3 is broken (the default at ubuntu 7.04), failing
to play this video:

http://flyleafonline.com/media/video/SoSickHQ.zip

giving only a blue screen (but not of death ;-) ).

I could play the video with -vc qtsvq3 (I believe using win32 dlls). May be
it is worth disabling this codec also, since it is all broken at all, and
win32 dlls are not installed at Ubuntu (fromfactory) afaik.

I posted this here, due to the solution be the same as distorded MP3 sound
(fixing codecs.conf file).

Hope this helps more users.

Bye.

[Bug 130470] adept uninstallable - missing dependancy libapt-pkg-libc6.6-6-4.4

2007-08-05 Thread Richard Conway
Public bug reported:

Running Kubuntu (installed with feisty disks, but changed all the repositories
in adept manager to the gutsy ones and performed a full system update in adept
manager, so technically I should have the same packages as the people who
installed gutsy off a test cd right?)
Saturday 4th August, I ran fetch updates. It informed me all the adept packages
(adept-manager, adept-updater etc) were upgradable, as well as a load of
packages which had 'apt' in their name (which i assume are the apt-get
utilities). I upgraded the adept packages and then the apt packages. However
when i upgraded the apt packages, it removed all the adept packages except for
adept-common.
When i try to do a apt-get install adept it tells me i cant install it because
it cant install adept-manager adept-updater etc. if i try to install any of
those packages with apt-get, I'm told it cannot install
libapt-pkg-libc6.6-6-4.4.
I've installed synaptic package manager and did a search for libapt-pkg-libc
but it did not find anything which leads me to believe its not in the
repository?
In synaptic it says i have the following repositories enabled:
URL: http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/
Type:deb
Distribution: gutsy
Sections: main restricted universe multiverse

[Bug 130473] Drawer opens behind other windows when beryl window manager in use

2007-08-05 Thread John Clarke
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

I have a drawer in the top panel which opens behind any windows if I'm
using the beryl window manager. If I switch back to metacity, then
drawer opens on top of any open windows. I have focus follows mouse and
auto-raise enabled.

If I move the cursor away from the drawer button and over the uppermost
covering window (firefox in the screenshot), the drawer pops up. If I
move the cursor over another window which is covering the drawer (the
terminal window in the screenshot), then the drawer will not pop up
above other windows. I have to move them all away before I can access
the contents of the drawer.

Re: [Bug 97220] Re: 'SvnRepository' object has no attribute '_serializer'

2007-08-05 Thread Jelmer Vernooij
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 79330 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/79330

This bug has been fixed in 0.4.0, not 0.3.5 (it can't be fixed in the
0.3 branch, though the error message could be improved). bzr commit
from a checkout (bzr co ...) does not work in 0.3.5.

[Bug 28596] Re: Totem will not play dvd

2007-08-05 Thread Phil Bull
I have made some changes to the documentation. The section on 'Playing DVDs'
now reads as follows:

In order to play DVDs, you must install some additional software.
Unfortunately, DVD support cannot be provided by default in Ubuntu due to legal
and technical restrictions.

WARNING: Many commercial DVDs are encrypted and so require the use of
decryption software in order to play them. In some countries, the use of
such decryption software is not permitted by law. Verify that you are
within your rights in using it.

1. Install the following packages (see Add Applications):
* gxine
* libdvdnav4
* libdvdplay0
* libdvdread3
2. If you would like to play encrypted DVDs (see the legal note above), press
Applications → Accessories → Terminal and type the following into the screen
which appears, followed by the Return key:
sudo /usr/share/doc/libdvdread3/install-css.sh

[Bug 130475] docbook2x-man emits illegal input sequence errors using iconv

2007-08-05 Thread Brendon Costa
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: docbook2x

I have been using docbook2x-man for a while now, however recently I
installed all security updates (I had a base Fiesty system before) and
docbook2x-man fails to convert any refentry docbook files to man format
emitting the following error:

/usr/bin/iconv: illegal input sequence at position 136

Following is a list of the apt-cache show docbook2x this is reproduced
with, however I think the problem resides in one of the dependencies or
in docbook2x-man's usage of one of the other packages it depends upon
which would have been updated.

ALSO: Note the Bugs: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] line? That is
apparently incorrect. I sent an email to the list and was asked nicely
to file a bug report here and that the specified list is not a valid
place to report bugs.

Description: Converts DocBook/XML documents into man pages and TeXinfo
 The main tools are:
  * docbook2x-man: converts a DocBook/XML refentry into a manual page,
with table support
  * docbook2x-texi: converts a DocBook/XML refentry into an info page,
most usable for Emacs users
 .

Bugs: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]
Origin: Ubuntu

This can be reproduced using the following command over a document called
edoc.xml (A cutdown refentry). But seems to occur on any refentry docbook file
i have tried it with.

exceptions on
C++ source code and to generate documentation about those exceptions. This
tool works on EDoc++ data files. These data files are generally created
using a modified g++. Making use of the modified g++ should usually be
done by running the edoc_start.sh script. The EDoc++ data files usually
end with a .edc file extension OR are embedded into binary files such as
